Celebrating 25 years of Spirit of the West, ‘Spirituality: A Consummate Compendium’ is a thorough retrospective of the band’s career. Sequenced chronologically it starts with the earliest recordings by the band and, over the course of two discs brings the listener up to two new tracks (Another Happy New Year & Winter’s Now the Enemy), recorded with Spirit’s favourite producer Michael Phillip Wojewoda, specifically for the package, in 2008. The booklet is replete with archival snapshots and other interesting material and was gathered together by the band and Rhino/Warner in late 2007 & 2008. Fantastic bang for the buck, and lovingly re-mastered from tip to tail by Joao Carvhallo, this collection is a must for both long-time fans and those just wanting to get started.
