Ah HA!! The new look is upon us! Thanks to Angela Browne, things have progressed from the home-school jungle of mismatched meta-tags and metaphysical meandering to this clean wonderfully blue site! Expect more photos, more text, proper album listings ...

John has gone and got himself into an American TV series, which is fantastic, marvellous and we are proud as heck of the fella!! It does put a wee crimp in performance plans, but with Geoffrey off with the Paperboys, Hugh going to Britain and travelling N.A. with James Keelaghan and Oscar Lopez respectively, and Vince in the studio up to his earlobes in movie-soundtrack land ... we wouldn't be doing much anyway!

There is still talk of a new album, in the next year or so. First we need some time together to write and arrange ... Thanks for visiting our locale in cyberspace, and do let us know your comments!

We are at the apparent termination of our tour-lette in Ontario/NY State on this fine Canada Day. Our show here cancelled due to a labour dispute, with insufficient time opportunity available, we find ourselves drawn to the Ron Sexsmith concert at Harbourfront... and laundry duties. John's album jacket looks smashing. We finally have our individual copies thanks to the efforts of the a local record co. dignitary, and will be putting them on shortly, and catch up with the rest of the country in our listening!

Over the months and years we have had numerous requests for "We Are The People Of The Frozen North" and for a change we may just have some good news; with the recent demise of our group's storage space (it has become a kitchen now for a restaurant) we have been forced to go through our tapes and have found a master of this song. Now all that's left is to secure licensing from the CBC, and figure out what else we could put on a CD with this song as B-sides and otherwises ...

Johnny is busy with BlueBird North (nota bene his new Internet domain), which is we have been told by a friend of a friend who knows about these things thirdhand a travelling chataqua of sorts with songwriters sharing their art in a collective format of some sort, from coast to coast. Anybody moderately energetic would likely find their own information, but there it is. We in the sotw web office prefer to white water canoe than do our research responsibly.

Vince has got a great project on the go, see his site for more news on that front. Geoffrey is home again for a time after some gruelling Paperboys touring, look for him daily at used record shops throughout the lower mainland. His latest project is building the music for a children's play, and if we can convince him to put news about it on his website ... Hugh has been busy in the studio with Oscar Lopez playing bass and steel and octave mandolin, mixing a record by Sara Marreiros for Syntonic Arts, and will be touring extensively with OL through the early summer ... Tobin is busy with the creators of Band-In-A-Box as a tech support person, and is looking forward to his upcoming marriage to fiancé Lori ...

John's album is done, although the wee web office has yet to grasp and audition a copy. We have heard rave reviews ... Acousticat ... canna wait!

Vince and Alec are working hard in the studio for a popular BC interior based group assembling a CD for release sometime this year, called Kinship.

Geoffrey and Vince's solo albums continue to be available at shows and at their individual websites.

A weekend of St. Paddy's shows spanning the gamut in success, all well attended; technical problems plague first show at Commodore, and the Kareoke Caber is finally Tossed. It was funny for about 2 weeks, the brainchild of John Mann, with technical requirements accomplished by Victoria production house ThunderChild Productions, a bathrobe and pyjamas 4am-9am studio complex in the heart of the Saanich Peninsula... almost a tomatoes-on-the-stage scenario... People interested in expressing their views can do so via our newsletter.

Wow, nearly a year past. What a year, the Snake as it's known to some... Many newsworthy items were probably better not written up in any way shape or form ... As the many (thanks be to your patient natures) visitors to our site and shows are well aware, Geoffrey and Vince have both completed their first solo efforts, Gringo Star and Supertonic. John Mann is well on the way with his upcoming solo release, Acousticat. Hugh has been producing the likes of Jeremy Walsh, recording with James Keelaghan and touring with Oscar Lopez, so his solo album's still in fragments on various hard drives and ADAT tapes ...

It's still just chat, but there is talk of another SotW album; hard to say WHEN that would happen, or under whose auspices, but the eyebrows are raised and ... wish the band luck.

The Turtle T-shirt has re-emerged, after many requests. It is an updated version, featuring the original artist's original colours and presentation, modified only slightly for T-shirt application.

Slainte, and see many of you at upcoming shows. Thanks for visiting.
